Dies Natalis
Event Overview
Dies Natalis FTIP 2020 was a fully online anniversary celebration with the theme “Mengagas FTIP di Masa Depan”. The event was streamed simultaneously through Zoom and YouTube during the early months of the COVID‑19 pandemic, serving faculty members, staff, and invited guests.
Role & Responsibilities
- Live streaming operator and technical director
- Camera layout designer and in‑room monitoring
- Managing transitions between speakers, MC, and presentation materials
- Ensuring stable dual‑platform output throughout the event
My Role
Technical Setup
- OBS Studio as the primary switching and streaming tool
- Canon DSLR connected via USB capture interface
- Faculty sound system and mixer for audio input
- Campus LAN broadband connection
- Minimal in‑room monitoring equipment due to early‑pandemic limitations
Challenges
Limited broadcast equipment (no ATEM Mini or dedicated switcher available)
DSLR connected via USB, requiring careful latency and exposure management
Early‑pandemic workflows with no established hybrid or streaming standards
Need to maintain stable output to both Zoom and YouTube with minimal hardware
Solutions & Execution
- Built a simplified OBS scene system optimized for low‑latency USB capture
- Balanced audio levels from the mixer to avoid clipping and feedback
- Designed a clean camera layout to compensate for limited equipment
- Implemented manual monitoring routines to ensure stable output on both platforms
- Adjusted DSLR settings for continuous operation during long sessions
Outcome
The event ran with stable audio‑visual delivery across both platforms. Despite minimal equipment and early‑pandemic constraints, the broadcast achieved clear visuals, consistent audio, and uninterrupted streaming, forming the foundation for more advanced hybrid workflows in the following years.
