Event Overview
Dies Natalis FTIP 2022 was a fully hybrid anniversary celebration with the theme “Bangkit Lebih Kuat dengan Kolaborasi”. The event integrated on‑site activities with remote participation through Zoom, while simultaneously being streamed to YouTube. By this year, FTIP had established a more mature hybrid event ecosystem, supported by improved equipment and refined workflows.
Role & Responsibilities
- Hybrid live streaming operator and technical director
- Camera framing, scene composition, and in‑room visual monitoring
- Managing transitions between on‑site speakers, remote guests, and multimedia content
- Ensuring stable dual‑platform output (Zoom + YouTube) with improved production quality
- Coordinating technical flow with event committees and on‑site operators
My Role
Technical Setup
- OBS Studio as the main switching and streaming platform
- Sony professional camcorder with clean HDMI output
- HDMI capture interface for high‑quality video ingestion
- Faculty sound system and mixer for multi‑source audio routing
- Campus LAN broadband connection with improved stability
- Dedicated in‑room monitoring for program output, Zoom gallery, and speaker view
Challenges
Managing higher production expectations as hybrid events became the new standard
Balancing audio between multiple on‑site microphones, Zoom participants, and playback sources
Ensuring smooth transitions between on‑site and remote segments
Maintaining consistent video quality during long‑duration sessions
Solutions & Execution
- Refined OBS scene structure for faster, more reliable hybrid switching
- Optimized Sony camcorder settings for consistent color, exposure, and sharpness
- Implemented balanced audio routing to prevent echo, clipping, and feedback
- Coordinated timing between on‑site and remote speakers to maintain broadcast flow
- Established stable monitoring routines to ensure uninterrupted output to Zoom and YouTube
Outcome
Dies Natalis FTIP 2022 delivered the most polished hybrid broadcast in the series. With improved equipment, refined workflows, and stable dual‑platform streaming, the event achieved high visual clarity, clean audio, and seamless transitions, reflecting FTIP’s strengthened hybrid event capabilities and collaborative spirit.
